Hey all.
So, I'm running my Big Six through Logic X and am running into what I've come to realize is a long running issue with Logic which is that the stereo output channel always defaults to channels 1-2 and can't be uncoupled completely. You can change the stereo output to any other pair of outputs in your interface, but then lose the ability to use inputs 1-2. I suppose it might not be so much of an issue depending on your console/interface, but it'd be a drag to lose 2 of the only 4 mono channels that the Big Six has. I've read a little about creating an aggregate device, but am still way out of my element on how to deal with this. Any advice would be amazing! Thx

You can send the output of any channel to any different stereo output. Then pan if you want the outputs to be discrete, so L is 1,3,5,7 etc, and R is 2,4,6,8 etc.

Not entirely sure what you mean by this? Do you mean you lose inputs 1-2 on the Big Six? You can always re-select stereo 1-2. Remember this is done on the channel output.

You don't need an aggregate device unless you're trying to use multiple interfaces together.

Re: SSL BIG Six with Logic X
Thx for the reply. I'm slowly starting to figure things out, although I'm getting some crackling/distortion on some tracks when running them from DAW back into the Six to sum.. I opened a song in Logic yesterday that I had recorded awhile ago and it sounded great listening through my DAW, then I ran each track into the Big Six to sum, and the crackle/distortion issue started. It happens at the same points in the track every time, but didn't happen when I ran another song through the same channels in the Six, so it doesn't seem to be the console? But I dunno. There isn't any clipping happening anywhere either. Forgive how much of a newb I am. Please advise.

Turn down the sends a little from Logic to the mixer. Does the distortion still happen at the same point in the song at less level? If so, it's the recording. If not, it's hitting the SSL too hot. Probably

You could try making the buffer size larger and see if that stops the crackling. The more inputs and outputs you have active at a time, the more work your processor has to do, so a bigger buffer can ease that load.
Reliably fallible.
