Hi All,
just wondering if this is overkill.
I plan to buy a Roland juno G, will this be a waste of money if I also buy Logic Pro and also Ableton suite? I already have an existing edirol USB/midi controller keyboard.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Cheers!

I would lay off the Juno G and just use the controller and the software and see how you get on, having said that, for years I have been using a controller keyboard and computer but just recently I bought a Juno D, sometimes I just want to turn something on and play rather than waiting for the computer to boot and software to load and then decide what I want to do.

IMHO a hands on tactile synth is never a waste of money
Having said that Logic does come with some excellent soft synths, as does the Live suite.
I'm a Live user but don't really like the interface of their VSTi's - just a personal thing.
As you have the controller already you should probably buy just one thing at a time, get to learn it a bit ( a lot
) and then decide if you really need more - if you investigate all Logic has to offer, it could keep you going for years.
I have both Logic & Live having said that but find i can get everything done in Live so don't use Logic a huge amount - do use Garageband sometimes, great little prog, most under-rated. Reckon i could just work with that half the time and still not feel i was missing out that much!
Get the Juno if you fancy it and can afford it, for me hardware still beats software, but it's not essential.
Choose which DAW really seems to meet your demands best - try the demo's, get one of them to begin with and if you still want more then go for it - but by then you'll probably want to spend your money on plug-in's
