Hey guys
i hope i´m in the right section here.If not some mod could please move it to the right place. So i encountered an issue with Sylenth 1. When i choose a bass preset and play c# , it plays an exactly third above the root tone. It´s most noticeable when i choose the preset ,,tube bass,, from the factory bank. Can anyone confirm the same issue or is it something on my end..? I use Sylenth over years and never had any problems. And especially i use that preset so much in the past and it always sounded normal. But this thing is driving me nuts. First i thought it was my hearing but i checked other tones and presets and everything was fine. I don´t have any clue what can cause that issue.Maybe somebody with deeper knowlege than i have can help me please.
Thank you
Unwanted 3rd on Bass Sound Sylenth 1

Just had a look at the spec and there are four oscillators per voice so my immediate reaction would be to check if one of them is detuned by a third.
Re: Unwanted 3rd on Bass Sound Sylenth 1
Is it playing the root and the third or just the third?

Welcome to the forum
I just loaded up Sylenth 1 and tried the 'BS Tube Bass' preset. It sounds fine to me, no 3rd in evidence at all.
Perhaps yours has been slightly edited... check that the 'NOTE' figures in the 'Pitch' section of each of the oscillators in parts A and B are all 0. Sylenth 1 will change those values if you click-and-drag on them so it's possible one was accidentally modified while moving the window or something like that.

So i checked now with frequency sweeping and the third is at 350 Hz and it´s coming clearly out of my speakers. All settings on Sylenth are okay..no tunings or tones moved up or down.So could it be my monitors. I got Presonus Eris E8 from 2016.

To rule out the speakers, can you listen through headphones, or listen to different sounds through the speakers?
If the speakers are OK (which I think they will be) I would try reinstalling Sylenth 1.
Warning - if you have created your own patches I’m not sure what reinstalling will do to them.

Re: Unwanted 3rd on Bass Sound Sylenth 1
I have found with some digitally generated synth sounds that there are all sorts of weird overtones produced that may or may not be deliberate. In this case the it is producing something that you don't want.
I used to play in a band with a synth player that had a Korg DW 6000 (or 8000) synth. On some of our songs trying to replace these sounds made some the other instruments sound weird because the harmonies between the instruments wasn't the same. Even playing exactly the same notes with a different patch on the Korg was unacceptable.
I had a similar issue with with some sampled sounds on a Akai S2000, that only worked in the arrangement in the key it had originally been written. Trying to change to key for a new singer, something always sounded out of tune. Despite being a great song, we had to drop it because it never sounded right in a different key.

So thank you guys for all your messages. My speakers seem to be okay.I checked with headphones and that weird harmonics also appeared. And now that my ears are sensible for that , i also sweeped all other tones of that bass preset. At least one octave and cut away all the third of every note with a notch filter. Now everything sounds fine. The only thing is,why i did not notice that before..But thank you again guys for your input..

I’m glad you fixed it!
