Midi glitches - Roland FP4, Scarlett 6i6, Macbook with mainstage

Hi - I'm struggling with some random notes sounding out. Can anyone help please?

I've been using mainstage on an 8GB M2 Macbook Air. Not playing like this often, just about every two months. Using the Worship Essentials template and an Addictive Keys plugin. That's it for software.

When playing live, I'm having some random notes being sounded. Loud, random, sustained and not anything I've played. I've been cancelling these using a panic/reset button on the nankontrol. But this still results in a gap where there's no sound from me at all - pretty obvious and distracting.

I'm using a Roland FP4 - midi cable into Scarlett 6i6. USB from Scarlett into USB adapter into MBP. Also a nanokontrol into the same adapter via USB.

I was initially using a USB extension lead to keep all the cable adapters on the floor not in sight. I've got rid of this now as I thought it might be causing the problem. But seemingly things are no better.

Any idea what's causing this?

Would I be better with usb from keyboard to Scarlett? I was wondering about changing cables to USB C so I didn't need the adapter but if I add another USB from the keyboard then I won't have enough ports on the MBP.

What should I do?? Thanks!

Best to start with simple fault finding.
Both of your midi sources can connect to the computer directly. Just connect the piano to the computer directly and play for awhile to see if all good. Then do the same with the nanokontrol by itself. Then add the scarlett and connect just the piano to it and test again etc.
Perhaps these devices are sending spurious midi data or perhaps you have a strange midi feedback issue.
