UA Luna review?

Post by Frogy »

I've just started using the Luna Pro recording system (otherwise know as a DAW ;) ). I have to say I'm really impressed. I've been using Logic Pro for about 20 years and for me Luna adds another dimension sound wise. Some of the MIDI functions are very clunky, but once you get used to that I now prefer working in Luna for most project sessions.

I know Sam did a short video review when it was first launched 4 years or so, but why has there been no formal written review of the product? Or have I somehow missed that? Thanks.

I've also been using Luna for a while and paid for the Pro edition that gives you the integrated API channel strip and comp on the EQ channel amongst other plugins.

One of the reasons I'm using it (not extensively as I mostly use Cubase) is that at my advancing age I find it very clear to see without my reading specs, much the same that Cubase is. It takes some getting used to as UAD have their own way of doing things and there's still a few annoying bugs, but it looks good and can do everything I need right now.

I'm still working in Cubase so haven't totally switched over but we'll see how it develops.

Ps. UAD can appear expensive but they've sent me quite a few discount vouchers so I've expanded my range of their plugins to see how they work and sound.

I too would love a proper review. I'm very interested in Luna, as a Pro Tools user, I find PT and most other Daws far too Bloated now. Luna looks cleaner and more in tune with old style recording. My issue is I have 20+ years of Pro Tools projects, many I am still working on, if Luna could open them I'd probably switch.
