Custom icons for MIDI Device on M1 Mac... how?

Post by ChrisCarter »

On an Intel Mac it's relatively straightforward to add your own custom icons to the MIDI Device images folder. But I cannot find a way to do this on my M1 Mac mini. The folder is in the same place but there are System restrictions that stop access to it. Does anyone know of a workaround?

Can’t you just use properties in “midi studio” and choose the icon from there?

Not if you want to use your own custom icons.

I don't have a new M1 Mac, so what exactly are the system restrictions that prevent you from doing what you want? Do you get error messages when you try and add the icon, if so what are they?

Have you tried temporarily changing the sharing and permissions for the folder?

Would it be possible to add the icon using Sudo command via the terminal?

Looking at the internet you may be able to use "~/Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/" instead of "/Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/".
