Fair enough, but if you read the link you posted, it's clear that Behringer is trying and failing to suppress fair comment. The court case failed and is now just a case of how much Uli has to cough up for DSI's legal costs.

Meanwhile, I say no more, but just await Michael Lapke's reply...

Absolutely disgusting that Behringer would attempt to sue forum members. Regardless whether or not you think Behringer indulges in "shameless copying" (and anyone vaguely sentient knows this), suing your customers is the final straw. I was pretty tempted by their new analogue devices but I could never and will never support a company that treats people this way.

CDM was tipped off today that court filings are available showing MUSIC GROUP (in the USA) proceeded with legal action against Dave Smith Instruments and various defendants for libel per se, libel per quod, and product disparagement, in the state of California, seeking damages in excess of US$250,000. The filings are dated 9th of June 2017.

This is very old news, guys. Music Group lost that case... Someone is just stirring an old pot!

That's not even the tip of the iceberg, this is probs the most entertaining reading I have done in a while. I knew some folk a while back who worked in the MI and pretty much what those reviews say there was echoed by the people I knew.

GlassDoor is full of posts from disgruntled former-employees. I see no benefit to this thread in copy and pasting the one-sided whinges of a randomly-selected alleged former Music Group employee... There's enough uninformed and misleading pot-stirring going on as it is, thanks.

I have to say I do find Behringer products a bit cheap and flimsy.

Hopefully I won't get sued for saying that ? ;-)

Thanks for joining in. I'll ask the same question: can you provide evidence/examples of the so-called "pay to play" system that Uli talks about in that statement?

Here's some more information:

It's worth mentioning that Uli has again been posting replies over at the MUSIC Tribe Facebook group in response to the defamatory articles being published about him online. Many of these articles only present half the story, or in many cases present incomplete facts or and downright wrong information regarding the circumstances of these cases.

I encourage everyone to do their research before passing judgement as there's more to the story than what's just being presented in these media articles against us.

You are responding on behalf of Behringer, so why not give a clear answer here instead of offering links?

I have no position for or against, but as a moderator here on the SOS forums I am always most comfortable when the discussion is conducted in the SOS forum Topic rather than through links to 3rd party sites.

The problem with this topic is that everyone seems to be asking us to read what has been posted elsewhere and there is little of relevance posted here.

Uli is always welcome to post himself on the SOS forums.

I'm just trying to provide our side of the story, the links I provide already have the answers and it's easier to do than having to re-type the whole thing or copy/paste and entire message.

Whether deliberate or not, you are missing the point. These are the Sound On Sound forums and the entire point of a forum is that it is a place to have a conversation. It is NOT a notice board for placing links. And to be perfectly clear, I am not just pointing the the finger at you but at the majority of contributors in this topic.

So, if your side of the story is worth telling, it's worth making the effort to tell it in a way that respects this forum. No links, no cut & paste, just a simple, honest, statement for the record. And yes, that goes for those making complaints too.

You encourage us to do our research. This is the place I do my research, so help me out.

Neither of those are about "pay to play" in music magazine reviews.

That was the direct claim made by Uli. He said it to deflect, to explain that Behringer doesn't "pay to play" therefore it is (he claims) unfairly treated by the media.

I'd just like to see the evidence, please.

What a terrible, lazy way to defend yourselves!

You could have sold a bucket load of your "completely 100% original" model Ds based on price alone. There was absolutely no need to start suing forum members and poison the tiny slither of goodwill that exists for your brand.

I don't have a problem with manufacturers making legal clones that they acknowledge to be clones. There's a market for this stuff, and all power to those that fill that hole.

Nobody is pulling wool over anyone's eyes, from what I can see, and everyone is free to put their money where they like.

VAR says 'no foul'!

Why did nobody complain when Korg made an Odyssey?

I think the main difference there is that Korg did approach the IP owners, and license the use of the ARP logo - in short, it was done *with* the remaining Arp founders blessing, rather than reissue the Oddy, without the ARP logo, on their own because they legally *could*...
