Hi folks....

Logic Pro User here...

Been trawling the net for MONTHS (well, not continuously!)...

And I'm looking for a decent free AU

- Exciter/ Harmonizer
- Tube/ Tape saturation.

Basically, any decent tube modelling AU' plugs.....I just need some warmth.... especially in the mids/ highs

Any pointers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Stevie

Thought you might like to know that I've ported the CAPS plugins to AudioUnits. Most of them are a bit boring, and already available in Logic etc (ie compress, eq, chorus); but I reckon the Amp and Preamp ones sound really good. They will appear in the plugins menu under the manufacturer "Zen_Platypus".

The direct download link for version 1.0.0 is here and the SourceForge page can be found here. The project is under GPL and full source is available.

Please use this forum or the SourceForge forums for feedback. I'd be particularly interested to hear from PPC and/or 10.4 users - I believe these plugins should work on both but I haven't been able to test this.

Thanks,
Tom

Also from NI Kontact Player

Not sure if this is a gratuitous attempt to sell different format sample libraries or a very generous way to allow us to access older libraries such as the East West ones before the got that crappy, buggy play thing that everyone seems to hate.

I'm away from my Mac at the moment but if anyone can comment on this it would be appreciated.

Good news, 'tis a way to access all the old instruments that you discarded when porting to intel! Patience is rewarded.

Got through the whole post amazed not to have seen anything about TOGU.... until the three posts above!

First used the SH101 clone and it took me back to my school days (and to my ears it has a genuine 'sound' that my other synths don't seem to have) and then the Juno 60 clone and nearly exploded with pleasure. These are genuine quality instruments although in my AU to VST wrapper, there are some minor visual annoyances. The vocoder is brilliant too... in fact, no-one here should be without any of their stuff is my 2p :)

Cheers,

I thought the same thing.. they are very good plugins, and considering the fact that they're free, should be downloaded by everyone....

What a find!!!!! These plugs are astonishingly high quality.

And the 101 clone - it brings back memories for me to. SH101 was my first synth as 16: the fundamentals of synthesis I learnt on that exquisite machine have stood me in great stead over the years. I can't think of a better synth to learn on.

I remember dreaming of having a whole orchestra of SH101's - and now I can do it: I've just loaded up 16 instances into logic and am having a ball!!!

Back in 1989, I eventually ended up with two, and used to run them with a TR606 and a Seq. Circuits Pro One. What a meaty set up that was... At gigs I would program the 101 sequencer on stage between each song..... I was very proud of that feat!

This whole suit is the best set of free plugs I have come across by a mile.

Thanks for the heads-up: you've made me a very happy bunny and given a much needed injection of inspiration to my workflow...

And the buggers had the cheek to send me the email offering this, after I'd paid the $US for the very same thing!

It's been mentioned on these fora before, but SPL are giving away their "Attacker" plug free, until 15 Nov., as well as the free ranger, a diminished version of the standard graphic, inductor EQ. The attacker is, as you would imagine, the first/left half of the Transient Designer. Neither requires an iLok, and are available in all three formats, as far as I know. I only downloaded the AU, since that's all I use.
