Talk box questions

Post by ManFromGlass »

I’m curious about peoples experiences with talk boxes. Before spending money on one I may build one. There are designs on the web and it seems easy enough.
Has anyone found any downside to using them? I had a thought the the tube would be a collector of anything that comes out of the mouth. I also had a concern that anything dripping down the tube could damage the speaker in the box. Thoughts?

Never used one but a sensible thing to do would be to form a loop in the tube, so any drool (obviously never let a drummer use it) that finds its way into the tube gets caught in the loop and progresses no further.

Loosened fillings are, I believe, one of the oft-quoted downsides. I'll admit I never quite bought that one!

Only because you simply take your dentures out to stop them rattling. :D
