Episode 25 speaking to Gwenifer Raymond, a supreme talent in the American Primitive / Fingerpicking world with two tremendous albums under her belt - the latest of which she recorded entirely on her own at home. midierror meets… Episode 26 with Jake McNeill, who’s worked in music for 28 years managing Mauro Picotto for 9 years, as well as Azzido Da Bass, Mauro Piu, York, Mark Spoon, Joy Kitikonti and Da Hool. He later moved into band management working with the hugely successful Scouting For Girls who released numerous hit singles and albums.

He's been composing and performing music on Nintendo Gameboys and NES consoles for over 20 years and is the co-founder of 8bitpeoples, a digital netlabel focused around all forms of chipmusic. We spoke about his early influences, rejecting obsolescence and intended uses, how chiptune is punk and his latest set of releases, which include creations going back over a decade.

Episode 33 speaking to instrumental Techno producer CJ Bolland! He’s realeased some of the most iconic electronic tracks ever made, including The Prophet, Camargue and Tower Of Naphtali - as well as doing a remix on the Prodigy’s No Good single and many others for the likes of Depeche Mode, Orbital, Moby and New Order.

He made the title track for the 90s clubbing film ‘Human Traffic’ - ‘It Aint Gonna Be Me’ with one of his greatest dancefloor tracks on the B-Side: Desolate 1. His track ‘Sugar Is Sweeter’ got the remix treatment from Armand Van Helden and became a worldwide dancefloor hit.

We discuss his early influences, his musical journey and the people, studios and stories which formed his incredible and influential sound.

Episode 34 speaking to John Lehmkuhl aka Plugin Guru! John's made synth presets for some iconic synths including the Korg M1, Roland JV1080, Omnisphere and Native Instruments Absynth to name a few. He's also worked on tracks for the likes of Hans Zimmer, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac and Whitney Huston.

His main focus is a plugin called UNIFY which brings together all your favourite VSTs into one place - allowing them to interact, operate and co-exist like never before. Every Saturday he runs through the latest updates on his youtube channel.

Episode 35, speaking to Dave Spiers of GForce Software who specialise in modelling vintage synths as virtual instruments - bringing classic synths such as the OSCar, MiniMoog, Mellotron and ARP Odyssey to life, while faithfully re-imagining their design.

He was behind the PhatBoy, a MIDI controller which completely changed the landscape of controllers for both home and pro studios in the mid-90s - bringing 14 knobs for tweaking parameters on your favourite synth and sound modules.

As well as making award-winning software instruments, he recently produced a feature length documentary profiling eight companies with interviews and commentary from; I Monster, Michelle Moog-Koussa, Alan R Pearlman, Alessandro Cortini, Rick Smith, Karl Hyde and more.

In episode 36, we're speaking to Jim Coles aka Om Unit who’s a producer and DJ based in Bristol, England. He’s produced records spanning multiple genres for the likes of Goldie’s Metalheadz, Mike Paradinas Planet Mu and D-Bridges’ Exit records - and has DJed the world extensively. He’s also part of Dream Continuum and produces under the alias Phillip D Kick.

Jim also started out as a turntablist and also worked in community music in his early days. He teaches Music Production at BIMM in Bristol and recently released a new album entitled Acid Dub Studies. We caught up in March to discuss his career, diversity in the industry and tips for making sub heavy music.

Episode 39, speaking to Halina Rice - an electronic musician and composor, who’s released critically acclaimed music over the last few years - fusing the worlds of electronic music, performance and live visuals. Her first release ‘Redux’ was released in 2017 on Blurred Recordings with extensive press coverage and radio airtime.

In 2020 she began a series called NEW WORLDS releasing tracks with their own virtual environments - described as “A sublime and infectious piece of electronic mastery” by Electronic Sound Magazine. We discuss her approach to live performance, her conversion to electronic music production and how she uses visuals to elevate her music.

Episode 40: Dave Clarke

An extraordinary renegade talent, Dave’s carved a career playing and making the finest underground electronic music charged with unrelenting energy and a punk ethos. Dave’s influential album ‘Archive One’ was released in 1995 to critical acclaim - listed as one of John Peel’s top 20 albums of all time. This was followed up with 2003’s ‘Devils Advocate’ which continued to showcase his dedication to musical diversity laced with an incendury spirit.

In 2001, he released the World Service Techno/Electro mixes, which are as integral to the scene today as they were then. He subsequently released a follow up before ‘The Desecration Of Desire’ came out in 2017. His live sets are legendary - hear him play every week during his radio show on RTE which has over 800 episodes.
