I think you’re confusing it with flying.

At least air piano is something you can practice on your commute to work and back. And it has the added benefit of keeping you socially distanced.

I find this all a bit underwhelming, what I’m looking forward too are "real" advances into alternative controllers, not physical, but neural, where "we" can all connect to an instrument with our thoughts, our brains, in a controllable way.
This will come, and we will see the things we have now, as just a stepping stone.

We were exploring biofeedback controlling synths 45 years ago as students at university. Over the years I have occasionally come across other’s experiments and you can buy kits now that can convert brainwaves and/or galvanic skin response and/or heart rate etc to a synth controller.

I suspect what you are looking for might involve surgery and even then for precise control I don’t think we know enough about the brain yet. But I’m with you on how cool it would be!!

I have the Leap Motion beam controller and it can be fun but not as cool as this airpiano.

Have you thought about adding a keyboard to it? You could then play notes so much faster and more accurately.

You don't look hangdog, you look Australian. I really like the instrument and the sounds you coaxed from it. Coax seems to be the operative term. Wonks wondered about hooking it up to a keyboard, and I get that. But I'm wondering about playing it even s-l-o-w-e-r.
