Does anyone use the TOR browser? I'm looking into all this privacy stuff. Again. (I already don't use any social media or Google products) I went to download TOR and Firefox says it is unsafe. Should I just stop now???? Just off to stock up on tinfoil now..

TOR can be useful (and is fine IME), but you need a VPN too if you really want to remain private.

I've used TOR on occasion with no problems. But for full security you do need to observe instructions to disable some browser options. And, as The Elf has pointed out, it works best hand in hand with a reputable VPN. I have heard reports that among the free VPN offers there are some which are actually a security risk.

Another option is to use 'Brave' as your browser. It is very privacy focussed and also has a TOR option built in if you feel the need .....

A *good* VPN is the first (and essential step). They all cost around $2-3 per month if you subscribe for a period.
Turn off the Internet if/when you don't need it.
Disable all the Windows data mining, and for individual programs where possible.
Brave browser is a good option IMO.
And of course, don't use Google!

Choose your VPN very carefully, a lot of them are as nasty as a bag of scorpions in with a tax demand.

Nord VPN is pretty good IME.

I've been telling folk this for many, many years. I guarantee it will fall on deaf ears, and rolling eyes.

Not from me, I cancelled Google about 15 years ago.

Thanks for all of the tips guys, I have considered VPN from time to time, I will look at again. And look at Brave as well.
