DM2000 changing the battery, how?

Post by Alaville Studio »

Hello,
When I open my DM 2000 I can see a message telling me that the battery is low, May be my problems would be solved by changing the internal battery of my DM 2000.
Of course nothing in the User's manual about that .
What are the screws to remove and precautions to take to open a DM 2000, first remove the wooden sides I suppose;
And of course save everything on Smart media, before replacing the battery.
I understood that it was located in a support on the motherboard and that it is a CR 2032.
If anyone has any useful info or a link to an (exploded) drawing of dismantling and opening the hood, please give it to me.
Thanks

It's mentioned in this video at about 40 minutes in! The battery is a CR2450 3V button cell.

Thank you for this precious information , I've been surprised that on this Video in fact it is a CR2450 Battery which is inside!
Unfortunately no other information on the "opening" of the DM 2000 to access inside BUT.....
I have this new information which can be useful for other people on our site, using this mixing Console,
that somebody tells on another site :
" I took off the left metal side panel and could see the battery about 3 inches inside. There was enough cavity to put my hand inside...pop out old one and replace it with a new CR2032. "

I have heard that only a side panel needs to be removed to access the battery, but I've no personal experience of accessing it.

It is possible that DM2000s of different ages use different batteries. Both the CR2032 and CR2450 provide the same 3V supply so either would work with the backup circuitry, but the 2450 has more than twice the capacity and thus probably twice the life.

The two button cells are also physically different sizes, with the 2032 being 20mm diameter and 3.2mm thick (the clue is in the battery number! :-D) , while the 2450 is 24mm in diameter and 5mm thick.

So a 2032 will fit in the holder for a 2450 (although it might be loose and thus make poor contact), while a 2450 won't fit in the holder for a 2032.

So... you need to see what's in your specific desk and replace like for like.

The Service Manual seems to indicate the smaller 2032 rather than the 2450, as it only mentions part no. VN103500, which, if you Google it, refers to the CR2032.
( I have no idea why the video shows a CR2450, which is obviously a wider and deeper battery...V2 mixer, perhaps?)

Easiest way is to open it up and replace it with the same battery!

That's it friends "I finished the Beast" I changed the battery after much research, and it's quite simple without dismantling everything, except that there is nowhere the precise description of what you have to do in the different user manuals, after ultra-long Web research and some info,
I put my description at your disposal!!

DM 2000 BATTERY REPLACEMENT
Of course unplug the console, BUT BEFORE save the "ALL" on the SMART MEDIA card, the entire configuration of your console and ALL ITS PROGRAM MEMORIES.
The battery is in a slot on the CPU PCB
Remove all the screws from the Left Side Panel of the console (when facing the console) and of course if you have a wooden side, the 4 screws that hold it in front!
Facing the left side of the console, on the right there are two circuit boards one above the other.
On the top one at the bottom left at just 13 cm deep there is the battery compartment that can be reached by hand.
With a long, small screwdriver with a thin end, just push the battery towards the back of its housing, and at this point it comes out slightly, which allows it to be removed naturally,
I took the opportunity to apply a little contact cleaner,
then do the reverse operation of sliding a new 2032 battery into the holder, like the one that was there originally with the + above.

I do not see any way to load pictures on this forum that I took from this operation , if you need some, go to my site to join me
Best regards
