I don't know if NICAM is still in use somewhere around the world, but modern digital networks have largely made it obsolete.

However, it was a very clever design that illustrates all four principles of data reduction very nicely, so its worth including in the glossary for the educational value.

Indonesia maybe? Though they're switching off it apparently. My quick browse of wikipedia skipped over the fact that it was mostly redundant now. :oops:

You can... and I will. But it won't be for a couple of weeks as No1 daughter gets married at the weekend and then I'm away on holiday.
