What a find!!!!! These plugs are astonishingly high quality.

And the 101 clone - it brings back memories for me to. SH101 was my first synth as 16: the fundamentals of synthesis I learnt on that exquisite machine have stood me in great stead over the years. I can't think of a better synth to learn on.

I remember dreaming of having a whole orchestra of SH101's - and now I can do it: I've just loaded up 16 instances into logic and am having a ball!!!

Back in 1989, I eventually ended up with two, and used to run them with a TR606 and a Seq. Circuits Pro One. What a meaty set up that was... At gigs I would program the 101 sequencer on stage between each song..... I was very proud of that feat!

This whole suit is the best set of free plugs I have come across by a mile.

Thanks for the heads-up: you've made me a very happy bunny and given a much needed injection of inspiration to my workflow...

QUOTE: Line 6 are giving away Pod Farm for free until 30th September if you have an iLok or other Line 6 hardware.

And the buggers had the cheek to send me the email offering this, after I'd paid the $US for the very same thing!

It's been mentioned on these fora before, but SPL are giving away their "Attacker" plug free, until 15 Nov., as well as the free ranger, a diminished version of the standard graphic, inductor EQ. The attacker is, as you would imagine, the first/left half of the Transient Designer. Neither requires an iLok, and are available in all three formats, as far as I know. I only downloaded the AU, since that's all I use.

Any advice on a good program, well, i would be seriously grateful!

The plug ins information is very nice to work on. It gives a lot of think to work on it. It really gives me a lot of good explanations there to make it my job more easier. Thanks for sharing with us.

VFX app - PC CSTs in Mac OS!

Post by Dr_Jezz »

As I posted in the main forum:

VFX application - anyone using it?

I did a search to see if this has been discussed, but couldn't find anything. I'm going to post this in the freeware VST sticky, because it seems to allow you to run PC VST FX in Mac OS and there are many free ones out there! I'm trying this now - anyone else had much success with it?

Still evaluating above post since my new Apogee started annoying me, but can't remember if anyone's mentioned any of the Stillwell stuff (as used by Mix Rescue) - They're not FREE - but you can check them out without limit - and as far as I can hear so far...... I'm about to PAY (the very reasonable cost) for at least 3 since I found out - amazing. Between these and TAL, I'm lost for typos ;) here

midiot wrote:Hi-

I am a pro composer/musician, working for 3 USA networks, so my list of plug ins is embarissingly deep and way too expensive, but in many ways, the most inspiring plug in I have ever used in terms of creating new ideas's from static grooves is a free plug in called Live Cut, from Mcdsp software.....combined Livecut with a drum groove generator like Stylus RMX, EZDrummer, etc. is just fantastic...the comapny asks for a donation, and i sent them 30 bucks, thinking i was insulting them, but was told in a reply that that was the most they had ever received, so a 5 dollar paypal transfer would make you both happy. its still free if you choose not to, but once you try it, you will want to help them develop this great tool even more
it is basically a low cpu drain AU/VST plug-in used as an audio track insert (in DP mixer at least) that takes any audio on that channel and slices it up in real time...it has a ton of controls to modify, randomize and repeat the slices, as well as a "Squarepusher" contol for the truly adventurest jungle/D&B/chill/trance madman in you.....it never fails to amaze me what comes out of it, and you can record it free form as you dial away and then edit the best bits....works on any audio, and as a sidebenefit, when used with Stylus RMX; it mutes the output of stylus rmx when you stop or pause DP. hit play and you are back to groovin. I believe you can search for it in SOS, as they gave it a very nice mini review a few months ago
imho, it's just an Amazing Drum & Bass tool, and it beats the heck out of improvising ideas over a static 2 bar drum loop.
Beta bugs chorus is another nice fx, as is Crystal synth....i wish they would charge for crystal and put the money into even more developement, so get it while it is still free.
hope this is of some help. good luck

Is this plug-in still about anywhere? I'm looking for a glitch / stutter / randomizer sort of plug in for the Mac! (Running Logic 9.1)

A quick Google search reveals this page: http://mdsp.smartelectronix.com/livecut/

Looks tasty - I'm going to try it, but please let us know how you get on with it...

I'm after something that does something similar to the roll effect on the Pioneer DJM mixers: anyone know of a freebie out there that'll do this?

a couple of great additions to the TAL range.....

I've not tried the new reverb or eq yet, but if the early plugins are anything to go by, these will be very good indeed!!!!
