Recommend budget "dial-a-tone multi fx" to cover a covers gig

Hello kind people of the SoS forums

Recommendations most welcome for a cheap/budget (~£200/£250) guitar multi-fx to cover the tones necessary for a mostly 90s indie/rock covers gig. Cure (clean, reverb, chorus), Nirvana (distortion/fuzz), Pixies (gainy) etc.

Not much time or space to fiddle about with a pedal board, like I normally do. Would be great to have some kind of idiot proof box of the sounds I need to stomp between easily. Gig's likely to be cramped, chaotic (lots of guest singers), general madness.

Need to eliminate as many variables as possible!

A used Line 6 M9? Picked up a second hand M5 recently, and very happy with the noises it makes.

Something like a Boss ME50 /70? Can either be programmed with pre-sets or can be used manually, with proper twisty knobs. no need for menu diving.

Will you tweak as you play, or do you see yourself as more moving through presets? (just saw the comment about cramped space)

If tweaking then maybe a used Line6 M13 would hits the spot?

The thing with the M13 is you have 12 scenes with up to four pedal emulations active, and each of those four can be a choice of three pre-selected fx. So you could probably set up a fairly good set of flexible pedal boards to cover both the songs you know you are doing and genre friendly pedal sets that you can call up for guests etc.

(Full disclosure I have one for sale at a good price if you did go down that route )

I'll offer up my usual suggestion of either Digitech RPxx (50 or 55 are the chip-shop priced end of the range - I prefer the 50) or Zoom MS-50G (which can be 'hacked' to add effects blocks from the entire MS-ish range).

A Boss GT-1 is only £179.00 new, cheaper than the ME80 which is £229.00, and its sound engine is from the more expensive GT-100.

It's hard to go wrong with a Boss GT or ME but I have a Headrush Gigboard, it's a fair bit over budget but the interface is a virtual pedalboard on a touch screen, the sounds are excellent and it's very flexible and programable.

I vote for the Digitech RP series

I have the RP360 and it covers a lot of ground. FX, drive, amp and cab sim etc
You can set it in preset mode to switch between sounds or use it as 3 discrete FX on / off per preset

There’s the option of adding an extra control pedal to do both functions at once, I think

Quite a lot of convincing recreations of specific track tones in the presets

I hate it when people post something slightly over budget but the Line 6 Pod Go would be ideal for what you're after. Best ergonomics in my opinion for ease of use and compact form. 4 snapshots for every preset which would be perfect for a covers band whilst keeping it simple on stage.

TC Electronic Nova System. Compact, built like a tank, pretty easy to use.

£300 new, should be able to pick one up used for 50-60% of that?

I use a Boss GT-001 desktop unit, but the floor mounted version, GT 100 is second hand on the usual places for £250 - £300 region.
Cannot fault the sounds for general use one bit and the variety of tones from clean to dirty is very impressive.
The acoustic sim on this is also good if you need that kind of thing at some point.

The Boss GT-1 seems like a good candidate bordering on a no-brainer.

The Internet's awash with user patches so somebody's probably already nailed the tones I need, it's £167 at GAK, GAK is a 15 minute walk away, and ... I won't lose too much money if/when I flip it on eBay, as it's not really the type of fx I'd normally use!

I’ll echo Elf, MS70/50, well under budget too.
Cure? They were Yamaha fans I’m sure, signature sounds from "Symphonic" and other chorus programs.
