Which speaker system

Not sure if this is easy to answer but im looking to purchase either a Kv2 system which is powered or the meyer sound upa-1 tops and Used Meyer Sound Sub Active USW-1P. Are they equally as good or is one leaps ahead of the other?

I guess the first question would be 'which Kv2 system?' - but even then, there probably aren't going to be many people around who have hands on experience with both.

I've only heard the KV2 systems (EX6, EX10, EX12 and EX1.2 + EX2.2 subs).
These are the best portable point source systems that I've heard. Even the smallest EX6 and EX1.2 system can easily handle a live band for around 200-300 people!
The clarity and output of the KV2 EX range is sublime and I much preferred these to the Nexo PS range.

Difficult to say I'm afraid. I'd say get your ears on them and listen for yourself and make a decision.

I've always found meyer stuff to be awesome. My experience with KV2 is unfortunately not brilliant. However, that's with the disclaimer that I've only listened to other people mix on the KV2s, whereas I've used meyer stuff myself.

I haven't heard a Meyer system personally but have only heard great things about them.
The best system that I've heard is an l'acoustics Kara system which sounded incredible but not practical for the OP's use!
The times that I've heard the KV2 EX systems, they have sounded excellent and a huge step up from MI systems but they were used by an extremely experienced engineer who knew how to get the best out of them.

Not knowingly heard or used a KV2 system, but I have heard and used various Meyer active systems and always been utterly gob-smacked at how good they are... and then even more gob-smacked when I looked at the prices! Easily justifiable on sound quality, engineering and ruggedness, but you'd need a lot of high-paying work to keep the bank manager happy!

When I rubbed shoulders with the live-sound grown-ups I came across KV2s of various sizes and configs a few times... always sounded very impressive and, as dickie says, the smaller cabs belie their size quite startlingly.

Never knowingly heard a Meyer, but their reputation is of course

I saw a secondhand pair of Meyer UPA-1p's and Meyer active subs (can't remember which model) recently advertised for £4500. They sold very quickly.
However, those Meyer tops are very heavy weighing around 32kg. I wouldn't want to be putting those onto stands!!

Yes, I've heard the KV2 EX6 tops with a single EX1.2 sub at a few different events where they had a fully miked band running through them (drums, keys, bass, acoustic guitar, 5 string bass guitar and 4-5 vocalists. The sound was astonishingly big for such a tiny system and it wasn't even being driven hard!

It's the VHD system, and the ESR speakers I've heard of KV2, not the EX, so it's not like I've heard the whole range!

But Meyer, yeah, pricey, but I'd put Meyer into the L-Acoustic/d&b/Martin realm of high end system category. I've never been let down by Meyer on a gig.

You're right though....damn heavy.
