I'm looking forward to an article on the acoustic benefits of a pint of vodka to the left of one's desk now Martin

In all seriousness though, if the acoustics in my new studio build are as good as Martin's environment (having had the pleasure of hearing it first hand) I'll be more than satisfied.

Ah, you won't be able to see it from the picture above but none of the stuff in the rack space is actually racked as it's not rackable. If I sawed a hole in the desk it would fall through. Well, actually only as far as the keyboard shelf below, until I moved that, then they would fall through.
All in all, not a good idea! :D

was the water pre-sparkled or

:shifty:
do you have a secret stash of carbon dioxide ?
:shh:

I have 2x 23" LCDs side by side in landscape. although I am toying with the idea of mounting one in portrait orientation for the purposes of reading documents - which tend to be formatted portrait instead of computer friendly landscape.

It was pre-sparkled Tesco flavoured spring water, but ironically I'm finding it hard to get any more, as it's mostly out of stock, presumably due to the CO2 shortage :(

Bizarrely illogical isn't it?

More CO2 in the air than there's been in millennia, yet industry demands the burning of fossil fuels to make more!

Perhaps we should just store it all in fizzy drinks and solve the climate crisis that way? We'd have to invent an energy efficient way of capturing our burps, mind...

Yep, I'm a lefty, although my mouse mat has been on both sides of desks over the years - I had to commit myself once the rackmount hole was cut into its right hand side though ;)

Stickfinger (my steampunk plague doctor figure) is 2-feet high, and quite imposing!

For the sake of completeness, here is my humble setup.
http://www.musically.me.uk/Photos/Workstation.JPG

It's not obvious, but the screen lines up with the rear of the speakers. The space behind those is fairly acoustically transparent - two layers of 9.5mm plasterboard either side of simple studding. The speakers are sitting on a minimal layer of foam (not sure it makes much difference). I don't feel any vibration resting a finger lightly anywhere on the top shelf while pumping out a track with substantial bass.

The tweeters are fractionally above lug 'ole level when sitting. There isn't practical way to reduce the height of the shelf, but still have a clear view of the top keyboard. Overall it's designed for most comfortable playing rather than editing, so I still have worked out a way to get comfortable positioning for for mouse and computer keyboard.

The blank panel above 'that' amplifier is for the sequential switcher, which I still haven't got round to building - although the design is mostly done and some of the parts bought

Now if I could just sort out the room...

It's a BCF 2000. I use the sliders occasionally for tweaking effects etc.
@ Drew. Sadly no. I keep thinking of ideas, but am not really making any progress :(

Thanks Loopy - some of my steampunk sonic creations;)

You might find my subsequent thread when I finally got around to angling my desk interesting, as there are a couple or more photos of said desk.
