Composing music as an aspect of the Healing Force of the Universe

Post by tea for two »

I listen to NapalmDeath, Anthrax, JudasPriest.

Sometimes we just want to let out the helplessness, frustrations, rage, through music.

There are people for whom engine sounds makes them feel calm.

There's also hate songs. Songs some people will listen to before and or during committing horrific things.

Still the reason for existence of music is humane.
Well known "Music has charms to soothe the savage beast." William Congreve 1697.

George Formby, Bobby McFerrin, make me smile.
Seeing people Dancing to music from any part of the World uplifts me.
I love seeing Animals responses to music.

On youtube comments, often people say this music song got me through this downturn in my life, this music was my companion in my darkest days, or my Dearly departed loved this song it reminds me of them or this reminds me of a better time in my life.
Everyone of us know music songs as these.

Perhaps this was a reason why some songs, some musicians, became massive so that through them

Music is the Healing Force of the Universe : Albert Ayler, singer Mary

This is something I've become more conscious of in composing music this past year.

Whereas previously I only made music for myself, I didn't even consider other people, didn't consider impact my music may have upon a listener.

Many of us make music, doodle noodle, for ourself, for various reasons, we ourself know what these reasons are.

I feel if we keep on making music only for ourself, in the long run adversely affects us one way or another.

Making music is a gift, no matter how rubbish we think we are.
With any such gift I don't think it's meant to be kept just for ourself.

Making some music to give something to
someone whomever this may be, including Animals.
Making some music perhaps some people could relate to.

It doesn't even need to be released uploaded, we can keep it hidden, as long as we know we did it sincerely, is a way to uphold the Healing Force of the Universe.

The two most important things that happen to us are birth, and death.
There was no music playing at my birth, and I’ve requested no music to be played as my box enters the fire.
The purpose of music while I'm alive is to make life here vaguely tolerable, to ease the pain.
I’m sceptical about music being an actual, healing force, although it does have the power to strengthen and rejuvenate us in times of extreme stress, and illness.
For me, listening to music is good, making music is like going to the toilet.

Alternatively - birth and death are unimportant. All the interesting stuff happens in-between.

If anyone chooses to mark my death with a social gathering, they can play music if they want. Doesn't worry me - I won't be there!

You don't have to write songs. The world doesn't want you to write songs. It would probably prefer it if you didn't. So write songs if you want to. Otherwise, dont bore us with beefing about it. Go fishing instead.

Yes but I wouldn't impose my music on anyone, one would like to think they, at the wake, will have suffered enough :-)

I don't know about music having healing properties, it does takes ones mind off things, so is a diversion at times, raises the spirits - not literally of course, I have never heard of anyone rising from the grave if their fave tune is played

Yes I would be very unsure about going to a live music gig with Arpangel performing. I would certainly avoid the mosh pit area.

Many people have often said to me...

By which I mean that some people have occasionally mentioned...

Somebody told me once... after a gig, that a piece of music i'd played had so profoundly resonated with her that, in that moment, it had given her the motivation to move on from her relationship breakdown and filled her with hope to start again.
Naturally I thanked her for her kind words and wished her all the best.
I absolutely did not tell her that the song in question was about a satellite achieving consciousness at the end of its working life, just before it broke up on re-entry.
That might have spoiled the mood.

Achieving consciousness at the end of a working life is an apt symbol for the end of a relationship. Your song was the sound track for her life. And you weren't even trying.
