Also, I'm pretty sure becoming a writer member of PRS is still free. So, apart from the admin overhead of registering your works with them, if your stuff does get performed then they will collect the writers royalty for you

Last time I looked membership was £100. When I joined in 1981 it was free but you did have to proved that you had royalty earning works. Luckily my band had just had a song played on John Peel’s radio show.
