Many drum machines allow you to tune the sounds and this just sounds like woodblock hits, or possibly even short tom-tom sounds that have been pitched up a lot.
This could have been done either by tuning the sounds to a high pitch on the drum machine itself or by pitch-shifting the hits in the computer. There is no special effect here ... it's just high-pitched hits.

Eddy is right about those sounds - common computer game FX, or you could make them with most keyboards with a short percussive envelope - just make sure you pitch them a fifth apart.
Love the way he incorporates the sound of the light switch too
