Just in time for Christmas Nile Rodgers is selling off quite a few guitars.
All in aid of his own charity.
Plenty of Fenders in there of course, but I found it interesting to see there was quite a range of things including Squire, Gibson and Tokai.
Out of my price range but nice to have a nosey!

What I love about this stuff is that he's selling SOME of his collection, you know, only 107 of his guitars...

The best bargain amongst that lot seems to be the 1940 Gibson ES300 with a guide of $3-5k. The Selmer 'Modele Django Reinhardt'* would be my choice I guess but they'd have to reduce the $20-30k estimate a little.
* circa 1940, serial number 511, Django's own guitar was #503

An interesting range of gear, some beautiful guitars, and a great cause. There's a nice interview here:

On a side note, his book, 'le freak' is a great read. Terribly sad in places, but a great testimony to the power of music and the human spirit.

I've never liked a solo violin, you need at least five for a proper fire.
Re: Nile Rodgers Guitar Auction
I read this as Nile Rodgers Guitar Action & thought I bet he has it set quite high for all that choppy rhythm stuff. Some nice things on offer though & not silly prices if that's what they actually go for.

You take that, and I'll have the neve Melbourne... and we'll play Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock for the Porsche... Loser gets the Wurlitzer juke box
I didn’t even consider the Neve, silly money, it was just amusing he had the Mackie.
Big names always seem to have a Mackie kicking around somewhere, or a Neve, of some sort.
As for the Porsche, I must have a good look in my garage later, I think I have one kicking around somewhere, just behind the Fabia, probably.
BTW, I started my car yesterday, it started.

The Juno 60 estimate seems reasonably priced for a good condition synth with added starshine but who knows the final price if two wall street dudes get into a "must have it " bidding war.
recently : Einstein's papers, estimate 3 million, realised 12 million.
It just goes to show, you can have too many guitars [and the banjo of course].

People like him probably couldn’t remember what they’ve got, you just don’t care, we’ve got to stop, on this forum, getting so wound up about buying stuff, it doesn’t matter, if you can, fine, I think those that can make music can do it with anything, half the time we’ve already got enough stuff to do what we do, when I say wound up about buying, I mean "buying" not the gear itself, it’s best to chill out, it doesn’t matter, it comes and goes, it works or it doesn’t, who cares? it’s not a big deal.
If you want two thousand guitars, or one, who cares? I’ve got very little in comparison to a lot of people, a new instrument can be a new piece, but that doesn’t mean it’s anything special, it comes, and it goes.

I think this forum is one of the few that actively discourages people from buying more kit, the underlying philosophy of the 'hive mind' seems to default to "you don't need it to make good music" and works back from there.
