Hi All,
I have an sE Electronics Z5600a MKII valve mic that's recently started giving an audible hum/buzz around 93Hz. Does anyone know of a suitable repair shop, ideally near Manchester, that might be able to diagnose and repair?
I've tried it on different audio interfaces in different buildings, and as I say, its only recently started and I've had it for about 8 years. New valve from Watford valves too. So I'm convinced it's either the mic, the transformer, or the bespoke transformer to mic cable - these being the only things I'm not able to test.

That hum frequency sounds suspiciously mains related so I'd suspect a power supply failure first and foremost. Sorry I can't recommend anywhere specific, but hopefully someone here can.

I have used Gee Electronics in Warrington a couple of times in the past for mixer and amp repairs and had good service. I imagine they'll be able to help.

The guys at PMT Manchester actually recommended Gee, but when I phoned Gee they said unfortunately they only do PA stuff nowadays and couldn't help.

Shame, that said microphones are pretty specialised, have you contacted sE directly? They seem a reputable brand so I'd expect them to have recommended repairers and a mic is not to large to post economically.
