Classical guitar in charity shop at £110. Retail seems more than twice that but are they any good?
I shall of course check it for splits, a twisted neck and so on but thought it might make a good 'spare' for son?

I think you mean a CG 110 SA.
It's got a solid spruce top, so it should certainly be a reasonable guitar if the neck is OK and the action is workable.
Like most basic guitars, it has a plastic nut and saddle, and an upgrade to bone versions of these could improve the tone.

Reliably fallible.

And don't forget Dave. A bargain is only a bargain if it's something that you might have otherwise bought at a higher price. Is your son actually in need of a 'spare' guitar?
