Thanks.

What have you got that needs repair?
I can honestly say I don’t know of anywhere, apart from London Sound in Harrow, they specialise in a few makes.
There are other places, like Audio Gold, but their charges are very high.

I've had a few conversations with this chap on another forum

http://www.michaelmauricerepairs.co.uk/

He's based in Wembley so might be worth contacting.

It's my Creek Evolution 2 CD player. The tracking skips and also the door sometimes does not respond. Frustrating really, because it was an expensive purchase and I've treated it with great care and only lightly used it.

I don’t know how confident you are regarding repairs, but I had an old Philips machine that started to skip, I took the lid off of and cleaned the laser very gently with a cotton bud dipped in water, it did the trick.
Only do this is you’re absolutely confident, and most importantly DO NOT DO THIS WITH THE POWER ON not only from an electrical safety point of view, but the light from the laser is very dangerous, the plug must be pulled out of the wall socket and disconnected completely if you are going to do this, and the lid replaced fully before testing the machine.
The draw will be another issue, but it should be a simple fix for an experienced engineer.
That Creek is a very good player, as you know, and worth repairing.
James's guy looks cool, I’d give him a try.

Isn't it better to use alcohol rather that water to clean the laser?

Could be, I used water because I was a bit scared of corroding anything.

A number of companies make laser cleaning kits with a special disk and fluid

Here's an example: https://uk.farnell.com/allsop/59147/pro ... dp/3531177

I had a Denon player long ago that started to skip and this seemed to fix it. YMMV of course

These do work, but if you’ve got a a thick film of dirt, it may not, it’s worth a try though.
