Completely agree on the 'not a competition' part
Given the range of styles I can't imagine how we could compare or rank things.

I've never liked a solo violin, you need at least five for a proper fire.
Re: One Synth Challenge #7- 2022 Edition
You could do the ‘reveal’ at SynthFest and if you wanted a competition think in terms of Joe Public guessing the most correct instruments used rather than the pieces themselves.

Indeed. I've always regarded it as a fun idea. Competitions are not 'fun' so it's a no thanks from me too.

I guess that answers that question sufficiently

That’s my point, it’s a presentation, not a prize
Re: One Synth Challenge #7- 2022 Edition
I always loved these but unfortunately I’ll be way most of that period.
Whenever we have done these before I always took it as a bit of fun to really try and push my knowledge, see what could be done rather than produce soothing stunning. And whilst I marvelled at what some of you guys can do, I always smiled most at the absurd tracks….

I think you may be underestimating the size of Synthfest and over-estimating our importance in it!

I have an idea too.
It's a ridiculous idea, but I'm going to give it a go.

Ridiculous ideas often turn out pretty good. Get to it, Stephenson!

I’ve missed the last couple. I may miss this one too. I’m a long way from home on a work project. But I do have a laptop, an audio interface, a city with pawn shops and an hour or two.
Here are some Unfinished Sounds.

I thought Sound on Sound created the whole thing?
Re: One Synth Challenge #7- 2022 Edition
They did but the forum, while valued, is a mere fragment of the Sound On Sound universe

Absolutely! My track is one I'd probably not find a use for in any other context. It's 'out there', great fun and it turns out one of my synths is perfect for it

Having a bit of a struggle at the moment. I had one of two hardware synths in mind, but one is proving to be a pig to set up voices, and the other is showing it's age sound quality wise.
Definitely not going to try the SY35 again - the problems last time I'll regard as a warning
