I'm experimenting with displaying my song lyrics on a PC laptop, prior to purchasing a page turner pedal
I've made .jpeg files of my song lyric pages.
My problem is, I cannot get the .jpegs to display in the order I want, no matter how I title them and play with the "sort" function in View.
Example: I've tried titling them as:
1 - A Fool Such As I 1
2 - A Fool Such As I 2
3 - 24 Frames 1
4 - 24 Frames 2
5 - 24 Frames 3
Also as:
100 - A Fool Such As I 1
102 - A Fool Such As I 2
and so on.
But when I go to open them (click on the first file, hold Shift, click on the last file and hit Open), they refuse to display in the order one would want.
Can you help?

I use For Score on the iPad for this. I load each song in as a single pdf, so for example, the pdf might have 5 pages. Then I build up set lists in For Score, and run them with the page turner.
What you need to do will depend on what software you are using with the page turner, but it’s certainly easier to create a single file to represent each song.

Try 001, 002, 003 etc.

"The Best" piece of gear is subjective.

If you’re opening them all at once using Explorer, then it looks like Windows is opening them in an order different to the way you have sorted them.

Dedicated software is really good. If you have an iOS or Android tablet or larger phone then there are free options that work great with cheap pedals. I don't use my PC for this but one of the guys does so I can enquire if you're interested.
Best features:
- display one verse/chorus at a time
- clear visual cues (blue background = chorus, for instance)
- auto-scrolling (I don't use it)
- easy set list rearrangement
- zoom in/out with an instant pinch movement
- link with backing track controlled by in-app button
- simple to share with others.

For the file names, to make them come up in order, you'll probably have to append leading zero's to the front. At least on Mac, it'll want to order the file names numerically by the leading digit - 200 would come up before 3 for instance. So say, you know that the max number of pages you have is 999 - so you'll need to go from 001, 002, 003... 010... 020... 100... and so on.
