SM7B suddenly sounding really tinny - only on recording ?!
Re: SM7B suddenly sounding really tinny - only on recording ?!
I think the monitor output is a bit of a red herring (by me!) it really doesn't sound too bad in monitoring, I can hear the tinniness but no where near as prounounced as when in playback. Continued to try many different approaches.. then found this thread:

Which is exactly the problem I have, the mic hasn't been dropped though! Anyway is under warranty and am sending it back to Shure.. huge thanks to all who took the time to reply, was a maddening time!

Just for the benefit of anybody finding this thread later, When you refer to it sounding ok when monitoring, are you listening to your own voice, or somebody else? If somebody else, are you in the same room? I ask because the live sound may/would fill in some of the lost LF/MF if you are in the same room, and much more so if it is your own voice (the effect is called 'occlusion', i.e. you hearing your own voice through your cranial bone structure).

People often mistake me for a grown-up because of my age.

Hi all - posting an update
Sent to the mic to Shure under warranty (12 months since purchase)
No indication of what was wrong with the old one, they have just sent me a new replacement which works great.
I have messaged them to ask what was wrong and will update if I hear anything, pleased it was under warranty - phew!
