I’m not sure to what degree instant removes the oils from coffee. Paper filters do. As discussed those oils may be both beneficial and harmful, but in terms of harm the signal just doesn’t seem to translate into bad outcomes in a meaningful way, as long as we don’t also see a negative impact on sleep.

And I have a policy of no tea or coffee after 2000 (the year not the time), so caffeine is most definitely out of my system for good!

Thanks for the great review of the UAD Sphere Mics. The info in the box "Isolation Stations" might be misleading, though. The "Isosphere" feature is not intended to emulate mic shields, but it is supposed to enhance recordings where the actual shields are being used.

Microphone isolation filters (also referred to as reflection filters) and portable acoustic booths are a boon to home recordists, but they also impart their own undesirable coloration to the sound, and their effectiveness at reducing reflections and background noise is limited, especially at low to mid frequencies. IsoSphere optimizes how the Sphere L22 works together with commonly-available isolation devices—such as the sE Reflexion Filters, Aston Halo, Kaotica Eyeball, and even vocal booths. It enhances off-axis behavior for maximum rejection and modifies frequency response to compensate for unwanted coloration, leading to even better-sounding recordings.

Nutritionist known as Jack

I been looking into Hinduism Yogic eating health. There's utube vids on this.
::
Piling on approx 20KG
during lockdown hasn't been the best for me. Once I loose approx 10KG I might volunteer to help ooot a bit at a farm I can get to fairly easily to get back into some better shape.
Just natural hard work and walking. Not into gyms. Not into running.

Whoops! Well spotted, thank you. We'll update the online versions.

We will be digging in to nutrition and movement later in the series. Stay tuned!

I would say it's worth considering we have a personal doobry that's an added element to our intellect mental emotions feelings physical. Looking after our doobry is pretty necessary for our overall health.

Look forward to that one, Jack. Prompted by some health concerns, I've been on a low-caffeine, low-carb, fasting diet recently, along with regular morning exercise. Lost a ton (well, a stone and a half) of weight and, more importantly, feel much more alert and energised all day long. Been brilliant for both physical and mental health... and motivation!

Re: April 2023 Issue
That's amazing news mate. Well done.
Low carb diets and fasting can be magic for many people. They work particularly well for men, and particularly well when we do have some fat on us to lose.
(They can start to work less well when leaner people become set on the idea of fasting for autophagy, or when perimenopausal women who are already hormonally stressed do too many of 'the things' all at once.)
The fact that you're losing fat is a proxy for improvements in pretty much aspect of health. It has become common to insist that we can be healthy at any size, and I'm afraid that just doesn't stack up in reality.
A couple of tips for you - consider that as you lose weight, you're losing both fat and lean mass. You want to prop up that lean mass as much as you possibly can as the weight falls off. To that end we want to be sending some anabolic stimuli, the two obvious ones being resistance exercise and protein feedings above 30g of animal protein.
By making our goal muscle-building, we tend to lose fat but in a sustainable way, whereas if we make our goal 'weight loss' we can wind up a lot lighter, but with the same body composition. The danger is that if our deficit is too great, our diet unsustainable, we quickly gain weight back. But as we do so, fat is far quicker to replace than lean mass. We can wind up where we started off, but now with less lean mass.
Give me a shout if you need any help, but it sounds like you're absolutely smashing it. Awesome.

Yeah, totally with you on that. Working on both cardio and muscle mass/tone (which we often forget is critical for joints, posture etc. which in turn are critical for wellbeing). No meat for me, though plenty of protein in daily fish, seafood, nuts, beans... And yeah, I'm not focusing on weight loss much (a bit, since I am pretty overweight). Really I just decided I needed to get fitter and healthier before I start sliding into my 50s! The weight is but an indicator, as you say, though a pretty good one for most people...
