Am I understanding this correctly?

You are right that they no longer seem to include the editor with Elements (it was included in the version that I bought) but that page does say that it is included with the Standard version.

In that case may I also suggest looking at Acon Acoustica which is cheaper than RX Standard but also includes spectral editing. Download the demo and see if it works for you.

I have RX9 standard and I can run that standalone.

RX7 Elements runs standalone so it's obviously something they've removed in the later versions. But they have added additional tools so that doesn't seem unreasonable.

Thanks all.

I'm going to try this trial on RX10 and see what it's like. If it works, then I suppose I have to get the standard version. It looks like something I'd use quite often and then it will be worth it!

Thanks,

Cant you do the same with Spectralayers?

Don't know. Can you?

This question wasn’t meant to sound that random… I asked you Mr. Elf as Cubase Pro user. So far I have only used the in built Spectralayer version to rebalance bleed in vocal mics, but I’m sure you can do that too.

And I just wondered why you, as fellow Cubase believer, were using RX instead of the very convenient Spectralayer extension :-)

RX is powerful and easy to use. Spectralayers is clunky and pretty limited in comparison. It also is even more limited in its free version. I'm not aware of it having the facility to zone in on fret squeaks, let alone have the squeak's harmonics automatically selected - this latter feature is the main reason I use RX.

Late to this but I've dampened fret noise using Wavelab Pro before but any spectral editor should be able to do this. Wavelab Pro currently 40% off over at Steinberg until the end of the month. The Elements version does not have the spectrum view AFAIK.
