XLN Audio Addictive Drums 2 - It's Just a Host, Right?

Post by ITHertz »

Hi All,

I'm thinking of getting XLN Audio's Addictive Drums 2. What I'm not clear about is whether this is just a host for the expansion packs or whether it comes with a kit (or kits) already installed? I couldn't find anywhere on their website that explains this.

Cheers,

Chris

It will come with a standard range of drum kits.

Expansion packs are just that, to expand the standard drum sounds in the package.

Reliably fallible.

Looking at the website it looks like you get to choose either a custom or curated collection.
But it's not exactly clear.

Looking at the XLN website, I think I was wrong in saying it has a standard drum set (though that nay be the case). But you basically buy the AD2 in a variety of packages that all have the core AD2, plus different numbers of ADpacks, MIDI packs and Kitpiece packs. So you can chose a particular music style, or pay more and get a wider choice to start with (and you can add more if you want later).

I have AD1. It's very good. Their website could better explain how AD2 comes, but it looks like any element of their collection comes with AD2 engine. For example, heavy rock drums comes with two kits and the AD2 engine, so says the webpage. Looks like $169 (regular price) is the lowest cost for AD2, and there are several options offering either two or three different kits.

I think the website is quite clear.

The Curated packs come with two kits which they have selected. The Custom comes with 3, 6, 10 or all kits, depending on how much you spend, and you choose the kits. I believe you do not have to choose the kits at the time of purchase, which is a very nice touch.

Don't buy a Curated collection since the 3-kit Custom will only cost a little bit more and is better value.

One sale until 4th June.
